@a.d.3606 Bullshit. They freed slaves at great cost to themselves. They were still in debt for that until recently. It's a very common thing to believe that philosophy and ideas have no influence on history, but history simply doesn't make sense without people changing their minds. They changed their minds about animal cruelty, torture and slavery.

@a.d.3606 True, African and the Middle Eastern rulers held on to slavery as long as they could. Without Europe there'd probably still be huge slave markets from Morocco to Tehran.
