  2.  @lynnsgp6770  Later additions IS what Buddhism is. The teaching of anatta probably isn't even from the time of the Buddha. Lots of core Buddhist principles and insights only came many centuries after the Buddha.

  4.  @ankaralion  He didn't call himself a god, but he said that following him would give people access to the Kingdom of God, which was supposed to come during his lifetime. Jesus never planned on dying before his apocalypse, which is why the Christian canon is so diverse and weird.

  5. Isn't the entire point of Buddhism that "giving up worldly pleasures" is a mistake? The Middle Path is probably older than even the teaching of anatta.
