@CoalCoalJames Taste is a relation, not an attribute. Something tastes good to someone. Something doesn't taste good by itself.

How can you even call it pizza when it's not done with mozarella? That's like putting a sock between two pieces of bread and calling it a burger.

@sophieoril If you don't care about your muscularity or performance, of course you can just eat whatever. People have survived for thousands of years on incredibly suboptimal diets. But if you actually care about what you eat, you should eat protein throughout the day.
3
@LeoTheMonts It's possible that only I have consciousness, but that's not plausible. What's plausible is that the experience of suffering is no less in simpler organism. When I was a child I didn't experience pain any less - to the opposite actually.
3
Not really. I typically feel great after a night of drinking. Colours look brighter, trees look prettier, clouds are more interesting.

Lol, radiation and chemical poisoning also works against cancers. But if you DON'T have cancer, you don't just do radiotherapy just in case.

@InUrGirl No, that's worst. You're maximizing your muscle loss and minimizing your performance. In general it's best to lose weight as slowly as possible without the diet taking too much of a mental toll. You can just eat nothing for a couple of days and lose weight rapidly, but you'll also lose tons of muscle.
2
@InUrGirl Your body can't store protein. Which is why "intermittent fasting" is bad if you're concerned with hypertrophy or performance. You need to eat protein consistently to maximize muscle protein synthesis.
2
Ins't toblerone is a chocolate-nut mix. Better comparison would be Lindt or Hachez. Those are really common.
2
"I think I should watch this to learn more about American cuisine..." Adam: "Let me tell you about my sex life..."
2
Grandma is right. You have to eat way too much if you don't combine protein sources.
2
@swedneck Those meals ARE extremely low in protein. Pasta with tonato sauce isn't a proper meal if you care about gaining muscle.
2
@smallfootprint2961 You need to eat an absurd amount of fruit to meet your protein demand. That's neither healthy, nor aids your performance, nor helps your wallet or time or anything. Trying to meet your protein demands with foods that have almost none is simply insane.
2
@rini9325 No, even Americans eat too little protein. If you ever have a meal without dedicated protein sources, that's too little. Of course you can survive eating pretty much anything. You can probably survive eating treebark or sth. Doesn't mean it's optimal.
2
If they just want to eat one thing, it's gotta be human milk.
2
A wood cutting board or a plastic one?
2
I listen to audiobooks, youtube videos or music while cooking. So the time spent cutting isn't really lost anyways.

You practically have to. Of course you can have two separate, consecutive "meals", but what's the point of that. In the end all essential amino acids must be taken regularly in sufficient amount for your body to maximize muscle protein synthesis.
1
@sebaschan-uwu You do, because your body doesn't store any protein. If your body doesn't have all of the amino acids it needs in high supply, it will simply build less muscle and break down more muscle.
1
Wtf does "quite active" mean? Our ancestors ate shitty, suboptimal diets for thousands of years in many places and they were plenty active. Being able to do the minimum human activities doesn't mean your diet is optimal.
1
What's your standard for "healthy"? If you don't care about your muscularity and performance, of course you can eat whatever.
1
Apart from simple stuff like sugar, salt and fat all taste preference is acquired/develops over your lifetime.
1
@Korrale Giving your captives vegemite sandwhiches is considered a warcrime in Italy.
1
Huh? To me milka and kinder taste acidic. Never had any American chocolate.
1
@iura_ch What evidence do you have that your metabolism is radically different from those of other humans, in particular study subjects and pro athletes?
1
There's a cost to eating more. "Incomplete" means that it's not practical to use as the sole protein source.
1
That's complete horseshit. Where are the studies of people eating protein once every three days maximizing hypertrophy?
1
@SpartanV41 Yeah maybe all athletes and coaches and nutritionists and sports scientists are wrong... or you guys are wrong...
1
Eating game isn't any better than recreational hunting. Whether you get the pleasure from shooting or from the taste doesn't matter.
1
I'm a chemical engineer, so I know better than all coaches, athletes, nutritionists and exercise scientists on the globe.
1
@jasondashney You're small. Wtf is your point? It's like saying "I never practice the piano and I'm fine at not playing the piano".
1
@tann_man If you put 1% of the effort, you put into excuses, into not hurting animals, you'd already be a saint.
1
I'm not aware of any studies testing that in particular, but why would you fuck around and risk your gains if you can just give your body everything it wants?
1
Stuff tastes good together BECAUSE the micronutrients complement each other.
