Speeds do not simply add up. That's what special relativity is all about. : D The reason why galaxies are moving "faster than light" relative to eachother is that the space between them expands. They never travel through space at a relative velocity greater than c.

  4. +Da Ga I have no idea what you mean with gravity rings. As long as the rotating component is large and fast enough (and you are rotating with it) it should work whether it has a ring form or a barrel form.
