GhostInTheShell29 "Just because you believe propaganda that places blame for the nerve gas attacks on the Syrian government" The "propaganda" comes from Russia and their Syrian allies. We do know that the Syrian government used nerve gas, we don't know about any other party. But that's irrelevant anyways. The cruelties of the Syrian government span decades. The war resulted when the tyranny finally became unbearable. When little children were abducted and protesters shot. Then finally a resistance formed. Now you are trying to tell us that we must either support this abominable tyranny or an Islamic theocracy. That is a false dichotomy and a completely irresponsible proposal.

***** That is actually a very good comparison. The USA and their allies fought the IS for years. Thousands of airstrikes, intelligence, weaponry for ground troops like the Kurds, etc. And after the IS was already losing, the Russians came in to support the Assad regime and styled themselves as the prime opponent of the IS. Similarly in WWII the Soviet Union was fighting back the Germans and had already won the upper hand, before the US troops came on European soil.

Yeah they weren't. Russia came in LATER to support the Syrian government. At that point the Western powers and their allies had long stopped and reversed the growth of the IS.

GhostInTheShell29 "The Russians helped the Kurd's close off ISIS supply lines with Turkey, preventing them from receiving their oil income." That was later. The IS was already losing territory long before that. And that was because the USA, Jemen, Saudi Arabia, Europeans etc supported the Kurds. "The Syrian military is one of the biggest anti- ISIS forces in Syria" Famine and disease are also anti-IS forces, I guess. Does that mean we should increase famine and disease in this world? The Syrian government is the reason the war is going on in the first place. It has caused more suffering than the IS ever could with it's limited resources.

That is so true. I was saying this over and over again. Terrorism is mostly for propaganda and recruitment.

Agent Smidt But that's what the video was about: The weakening of the IS. That was before the Russian intervention. Btw helping the Syrian government is not a good thing. They are the reason for the war in the first place.

No-one In Particular "The US wasn't trying to destroy IS" Well then their airstrikes and intelligence against the IS were incredibly stupid. Maybe you should tell the guys of the US military that bombing a militia weakens it. "they were funneling them towards Syrian government positions, hoping they'd topple Assad" That's kind of the point of the whole thing, isn't it? To end the minority government, to topple Assad. The Syrian Alawite government is the reason the war broke out in the first place. If their tyranny was allowed to continue, you'd have a situation scarcely better than war and one, which would soon spawn another civil war. Of course Russia, Iran, Turkey etc don't care about the Syrian people at all.
1
That is wrong. The IS lost due to the airstrikes of the USA, Europeans and their allies in the region supporting Kurds and other fighters on the ground. The Russians stepped in later to defend the Syrian government.

GhostInTheShell29 "The Syrian government has the moral high ground here, I don't want some terrorist assholes who are okay with dropping nerve gas on civilians to be in charge of a country." Oh the irony. -_- The Syrian government was dropping nerve gas on civilians. The Syrian government was abducted children to torture them in some dark dungeons. At which point do you give the Syrian people the right to defend themselves? The sole reason for this war is the abominable tyranny of the Syrian government. Everything else came afterwards. The enemy of my enemy is NOT my friend.

What are you talking about? Are you schizophrenic or just a bad listener?
