The government does go after it aggressively though.

@peterhardie4151 There's no magical substance called "quality" attached to a work of art. Whether you like a song is just about you and the song.
2
You came here to tell us that rather than hearing someone's ideas, you are only interested in leaders that you can follow.
2
Handsome, popular and rich people tend to upgrade their wives once in a while.
2
By that infantile reasoning everything is subjective and the word subjective loses all meaning. Of course "someone somewhere disagrees" is not what people mean with subjective and if it was, there wouldn't be an entire branch of philosophy called meta ethics.
2
@Jaylade It's not provoking, it's childish. He's clearly completely unaware of any discourse on the topic and thinks he has perfect insight. Moreover, if anything, moral disagreements point at moral objectivity, not subjectivity. For people to disagree there has to be some objective truth to the matter. Islamists don't just say that they use the word "good" in a different way.
2
@dm3199 I vote for a clown and no one is allowed to talk about it.
2
What does any of that have to do with consciousness?
2
Peterson should be taken seriously, but we should also make sure that what he defends is not Christianity - or any recongizable religion or god. He defends the words religion and god more than anything else.
2
Your choices are determined by prior causes. You describe pride, not compassion. What matters is how I act, not that it is me, who does it.
2
According to the bible you should kill your children for "disobeying" you. And you should kill strangers not out of necessity, but in order to take your stuff. Yes, killing many people of an enemy army does make you a hero in the ethical sense, because you're preventing all of the atrocities, you're fighting to prevent in the first place. You should let your judgment be guided less by cliches and more by compassion.
2
@andyw6996 Sam blew Jordan's entire spiel out of the stratosphere with the ghost analogy.
2
Why? There was nothing in that podcast I didn't already know. The only controversial part was Sam's opinion on privacy, which he already formulated many years ago.
2
@jimmy_xi9342 It's a clump of cells until birth... unless the parents want it, then it's a baby even if it's only four cells.
2
I think you are suffering from the delusion that if two people have a disagreement, both must be wrong. In fact only one has to be wrong. If I say that Canada is in North America and Peterson says it's in Africa, we should not find common ground. I should "win the argument" so to say. Although "winning the argument" is a silly way to express it.
2
Or he just hates Trump... like lots of people did even before he became president.
1
The opposite is the case. Compassion says nothing whatsoever about excusing evil actions or not fighting evil actors. Christian "love" is fully compatible with tolerating the worst suffering in innocents. You are commanded to "turn the other cheek" rather than to fight and slaves are commanded to obey their masters with sincerity of the same kind they would have towards Christ .
1
@vinniewedge Is that your way of admitting that the bible is morally abhorrent? Or is that your way of saying that you are as enthusiastically pro-slavery as the bible?
1
@vinniewedge You are better than than the bible. You are better than those ancient superstitions. You are better than the Rabbis, who codified the Torah in the Babylonian Exile and you are better than the early Christians, who codified the NT. You are under no obligation to defend any of this. You are always free to follow your heart and reject all of this vile nonsense. It is never too late.
1
@kedrednael According to whom? From what I've seen even at the height of the nuclear arms race, all of the nukes exploding at the same time, still wouldn't have raised enough dust to kill everyone.
1
@kedrednael I couldn't find where it said that it would lead to extinction. Still interesting, though.
1
You mean letting countries voluntarily join NATO to be secure against Russian invasions? Yeah, what a horrible aggression. You are such a clown...
1
@cakipankerot6830 Are you for real? Destroyed by whom, you idiot?! You just argued against yourself and your beloved bald short guy.
1
Whether you agree with him or not, he might be the most lucid thinker in the world today.
1
Yeah, bcs if you're not looking for happiness, you are dead.
1
Perhaps your shit tastes like strawberries. You should try.
1
The probability of being attacked by someone stronger than you is WAY bigger than being in a school shooting. Especially if you're a woman.
1
@mojoman2001 American rugby is correctly referred to as hand-egg.
1
@pdcdesign9632 Those are actually completely irrelevant if you take the amendment literally. Why do you think they are relevant and how?
1
How does voting for someone, who is or acts dumb, help anything?
1
Who is not having what conversation?
1
When you read a book about happiness by a catholic, you really have a lot of time.
1
Same. I think they did a day or week suspension. There was basically no one willing to actually engage ones thoughts anyways. It was always insults, tagging their friends and then more insults to show off in front of those friends followed by blocking. Most people seemed perversely proud of creating their own bubble.
1
That's the most hilariously stupid comment I have ever read. Even before one recognizes that "contributing to the species" is completely meaningless.
1
It always was.
1
Yeah, it's not like there was anything new in the podcast either. The only controversial part was Sam's opinion on privacy, which he already formulated more than five years ago.
1
Word salad. What's "the mystery of life"?
1
@romantum Nothing. An additional experiencer is a superfluous concept.
1
It's not just that I can express myself in finding creative ways of telling someone that they are totally misinformed and unintelligent, it is also the knowledge that somewhere out there are real people so vastly inferior to me.
1
@FeistyJackball Not necessarily. Depends on whether "something" has to actually exist in this universe or only be possible.
1
@CygnusEight Firstly, yes you are terribly weak and rape is quite typical of primates, so I don't see how it makes the perpetrators less human. Secondly you giving up any sort of privacy will certainly not "eliminate" child sexual abuse. Whether it will even decrease it a little bit is questionable. You don't need facebook or amazon to share things online. Just an internet connection.
1
@Headspin3d Short-phobia doesn't have a place in my universe. Begone, bigot!
1
@papajoeman23 Worse things happen literally every second.
1
He is one of the most successful public opinion havers. Would be kinda weird to change things up without good evidence. Also, I think you meant "sophomoric" and "audience".
1
@elenagerhardy2636 I'm willing to sacrifice thousands of people, who commit suicide flippantly, for the one, who genuinely suffers and is better off dead. I'm completely against any measure that makes suicide harder.
1
And that he can't write.
1
Biology is to leftist ideologues what geology and meteorology is to ideologues on the right.
1
Not only that, but Peterson's god is several unrelated concepts.
1
Chazz man I like your father.
1
A debate is actually like a sports competition (not like WWE, that's a showmatch), but this was not a debate. It was a conversation.
