Peterson should be taken seriously, but we should also make sure that what he defends is not Christianity - or any recongizable religion or god. He defends the words religion and god more than anything else.

I think you are suffering from the delusion that if two people have a disagreement, both must be wrong. In fact only one has to be wrong. If I say that Canada is in North America and Peterson says it's in Africa, we should not find common ground. I should "win the argument" so to say. Although "winning the argument" is a silly way to express it.

Not only that, but Peterson's god is several unrelated concepts.

A debate is actually like a sports competition (not like WWE, that's a showmatch), but this was not a debate. It was a conversation.

But debates are like that. They are contests. That's why I prefer conversations to debates.

While I completely disagree with Peterson, calling him "the dumb person's smart man" is just a silly cliche. You might as well call his mother fat.

@S Evans If you think Nietzsche is a profound thinker or a defender of religion, you've already committed intellectual suicide. Nietzsche was a madman, who justified his grandiouse, cruel romanticism with a lot of muddy thinking.

He is very smart. That's how he comes up with all of those excuses.

Firstly people don't call Peterson's speech word salad, because he uses those words. Secondly, I personally disagree with the notion that Peterson makes word salad. He just goes off topic, schizophrenically loses the distinction between seperate things. What he says does makes sense, it's just wrong and doesn't suffice to defend religion or god in any way.

@Jirka Oh come one. The man clearly believes in his own bullshit. If he just wanted to get money from religious conservatives, he could defend Christianity directly, rather than just defending the words Christianity, religion and god by redefining them at will.
