I got the transpeople thing from one teacher and the no-mental-differences-between-genders thing from another. So I concluded that there was no difference between being a cis hetero guy and a trans lesbian woman.

@joelman1989 There is a huge difference between respect and perfect, unquestioning orthodoxy on minute distinctions. A lot of people pretend that the slightest disagreement is equivalent with harassment or violence.

Androgen insensitivity is not a karyotype. If we really only care about chromosomes, we can, for example, say "he", once there is a single Y chromosome, or "they" for everything that's not XX or XY. So there's no issue of internal consistency here. It just misses the point of those pronouns.

@AlexMaskill When you make something a law, you also agree to all further consequences. A law isn't just a suggestion, you are bringing the power of the state to bear on someone. And that always ultimately means prison or death.

@justtheouch No one "needs" to do anything and most trans-people want to pass as much as possible. The topic of transgenderism is already in the room, so it's not like commenting the appearance of random strangers. Of course it's still correct to notice that comments like this can easily be very hurtful.
