  2. I'm not from the USA and had the impression that the Marines were some sort of elite unit, unquestionable superior to normal army soldiers. Apparently I've fallen for Marine propaganda.

  4. I don't know much about the US military, but judging from this thread, those parts of it were separated only to create morale through rivalry.
