Hindsight bias.

You didn't name a simple solution at all. Do you want to segregate by chromosomes or testosterone levels? In the former case you'd have to test everyone's karyotype before a competition.

They raised a boy as a girl from childhood just to win women's boxing tournaments 20 years later? That has to be the dumbest conspiracy theory ever.

Would you, as a woman, like to compete as a disabled man?

@astralisranger517 XY individuals can't "get pregnant". They can serve as surrogate mothers if they have a uterus. A Y chromosome in humans always means that you're male with zero exceptions. You're either infertile or produce sperm.

@chrisbasarab2446 The most general definition of female is an individual producing relatively large gametes complemented by a male, who is an individual producing relatively small gametes. In humans that corresponds to the absence and presence of the Y chromosome in all cases.

Men and women often compete. Just not in the elite of popular sports.

@nefaristo OP is a despicable gremlin, but it's simply not true that XY individuals can reproduce as females. They can only "have babies" as surrogate moms, which biologically doesn't make them female any more than a dude giving a baby milk makes him a female.

The body develops feminine characteristics in the absence of a Y chrosome and in it's presence it develops masculine ones. The disorder of sexual development discussed here leads to an inhibited expression of the Y chromosome.

Ok, so trans-women should compete in the women's category?
1
@nerolimii8691 Nope, biologically being female means producing egg cells and being male means producing sperm cells. It doesn't matter if you look 100% feminine from the outside. It doesn't matter that you have female breasts, a vagina, a uterus, etc. It doesn't matter that you look like the most feminine woman ever: biologically speaking you're male if you have the XY karyotype. XY individuals are either infertile or they produce sperm, they don't produce egg cells. What that means for athletics is a completely different question. It's not for biologists to decide, who competes where. But for biologists you're just a delivery vehicle for your germ cells.
1
@nefaristo While OP is a disgusting asshole, it's simply not right that XY individuals can "have babies". They can be surrogate mothers, but they don't produce egg cells. They can reproduce via sperm cells or not at all.

@camerondeans9056 "Get pregnant" implies that you're in the female reproductive role. It implies that there's an exception to the presence of the Y chromosome determining sex in humans. That would be quite the discovery.
1
@mihaiilie8808 Biologically speaking, you're not female in any meaningful way if you don't produce egg cells and if you're a man, who lost is balls, you're not meaningfully male. Biologically speaking, you're just a transport vehicle for your gametes.

@rossevans1774 If you didn't have children and never got your genes tested, you might be XY without knowing. Would you then like for people to call you a guy in an aggressive way over and over again?
