#1 Quit the small talk and get on to something interesting. "The weather is beautiful today." "It is, do you think we should engage in an all out trade war against China?"

It seems like psychopaths tend to give themselves away by overshooting with the lies.

There was a world of difference between Ben before religion was brought up and Ben after it was brought up.
13
Yeah when we are already talking, saying my name as a sort of incantation is just rude. It's a signal to get my attention and you're abusing it.
10
You can't become a narcissist unless you receive some severe and specific brain damage.

#1 Is only true of those people are independent. If they don't know each other, they are probably reliable. #5 Depends on the topic. Also you need the "book smarts" to be able to start having "experience". There is no point in showing up in a lab without even knowing the periodic table.
6
They had a conversation. Sam wouldn't agree with calling it "owning" Ben.

@Miscelanou You are making no sense whatsoever. Whether you should take what others say about you seriously depends on a lot of factors. Who says it? Are they usually reliable? Do they have a reason to lie? Are they independent of each other or might they all influence each other? How likely is that thing in the first place. If someone says that I'm an elepahnt, that's not something I can control, but I still won't believe it, because elephants usually don't walk on two legs and operate computers. If someone says I should be more assertive, I am more inclined to believe it, because people being not assertive enough is a common phenomenon.

The scientologists taught him to be so aggressive.
4
That's what I always say. You gotta speak loud. Having a deep, loud voice helps.
3
Don't bother studying. Let the knowledge come to you!
3
No, they aren't. How did this idiotic comment even get over a thousand thumbs up. Psychopaths don't generally have bulging eyes.
3
Reginald Dove He most definitely is. He might help others, but he is emotionally stunted himself.
2
Wrong. That's not how those conversations go at all. Not every believer gives up on defending his faith as easily as you do.
2
Everyone, who adresses others as "sweetie", should be publicly hung.
2
It seems to me that there is a rather large difference between sounding attractive and sounding confident. Anyways people say that I have a very loud and deep voice. I talk so that everyone in the room can hear me: Not to sound confident, but because I actually want everyone to hear me, whether they like to or not.
2
Yeah, what's the point of sarcasm when you overdo it like that? Might as well throw push a pie into your face.
2
That doesn't apply if you are a woman. Then whining is a very important social interaction.
1
I find inner happiness and balance in being an insensitive, arrogant drunkard, thank you very much.
1
WLCs arguments are fine up to the point where he adds "therefore God exists" at the end.
1
You are making no sense whatsoever. Ben IS a liberal. Even though I would say his defense of religion and tradition makes him an ally of authoritarianism. He is pro discourse, pro commerce.
1
He can't spend his entire life debating every single apologist, you can come up with. Moreover I don't think he ever debated anyone with an IQ under 110. You are throwing your fellow apologists under the bus.
1
Honestly, I'd vote for a hippopotamus if Trump was the other option.
1
Yeah saying someones name grabs their attention. That's why you shouldn't do it. How would you feel if you invited someone into your house, but he keeps ringing the bell? How would you feel if you took up a call and the person keeps making ringtone noises? It is obnoxious and much too obviously manipulative. The only time in which it is appropriate to use someone's name repeatedly is if you want to eather fight him or fuck him.
1
You reduce the entire world to what fits with your childish wants and primitive superstitions. You are the close minded one, not the ones, who take the world as it is.
1
If true that's incidental racism, not institutional racism. "Institutionalzed" racism is a funny mental picture.
1
Yes it is. If what you are saying leads into a contradiction, it must be wrong. In a reductio ad absurdum someone comes to disagree with the consequences of his own argument and therefore contradicts himself.
1
@Consolous But it's not "probably" true. It is likely true if it comes from people, who are independent of each other.
1
It would be best if we let nothing define us.
1
Perhaps you should work for the secret service.
1
I'm trying so little, I'm not even going to watch the video. Bye.
1
There is no such thing as an "intellectual dark web".
1
Not humble, smart.
1
@tnvol5331 When did he refuse to do so? I googled the Kastrup guy and he doesn't seem to be well known. I think Harris just isn't aware of him.
1
@tnvol5331 Well when did he refuse to debate or talk to Kastrup? Did Kastrup write a mail or something?
1
@tnvol5331 So... your first comment was a lie.
1
@Ange Lom That's not true at all. You cannot deceive others without reflecting on your own appearance.
1
I think what Sam Harris achieves is that he's charismatic and can appeal to people while making them feel smart. When he engages in demagogery or over-generalization, it's less than obvious. Also he seems to be genuinely interested in being right.
1
Yeah that's not how statistics work, Posdrum.
1
Pretend to me mute.
