  1. #1 Is only true of those people are independent. If they don't know each other, they are probably reliable. #5 Depends on the topic. Also you need the "book smarts" to be able to start having "experience". There is no point in showing up in a lab without even knowing the periodic table.

  2.  @Miscelanou  You are making no sense whatsoever. Whether you should take what others say about you seriously depends on a lot of factors. Who says it? Are they usually reliable? Do they have a reason to lie? Are they independent of each other or might they all influence each other? How likely is that thing in the first place. If someone says that I'm an elepahnt, that's not something I can control, but I still won't believe it, because elephants usually don't walk on two legs and operate computers. If someone says I should be more assertive, I am more inclined to believe it, because people being not assertive enough is a common phenomenon.
