The Empire murdered and enslaved uncounted innocents.

What has Lord of the Rings to do with WWI?! There was endless trench warfare in WWI and a quite complex political situation before it. None of this is in Lord of the Rings. Moreover: How would being inspired by a real war make a fictional one any better? Real wars are mostly waiting and marching and dying.

Lord Jeffries Still wondering why everyone on the internet bitches about Jar Jar Binks, but almost noone about Ewoks. I very much think this comes from nerds growing up with the first three movies, not bothered by the Ewok, since they were really young when they saw The Return of the Jedi. Then they build up huge expectation for Episode I, which was more directed to children than to old fans.

NeovisionX Well most of this is applicable to any war. To the point of the war machines - it was tanks that lead to the victory over Germany, but in Middle Earth it is mostly Sauron's and Saruman's armies, that use machinery. Moreover Tolkien always opposed the notion that his work was allegorical.

...and which was ruined by a Ghost Army. -_- What a bogus decision by the screenwriters. The end of the battle is like a cleaning agent advertisement.

Dan Scott-Worth How is it staying true to the novel, when they are changing stuff? O_o The Ghost Army chased off the Corsairs of Umbar and was released in the source material. The men of Lossarnach and Lebennin (South Gondor) came with Aragorn to the battle of Pelennor fields. In the movie adaption the Ghost Army acts as a kind of cleaning agent for the battle and is then released with a poor explanation.

Bun Bita Yeah you're repeating what other's said before, but what exactly has Word War I to do with the events in Lord of the Rings? What similarities are there in the politics or tactics?

No thanks. I rather see sparkling vampires having an awkward romance than latex vampires reenacting Matrix.

I always thought it was Vampires vs Werewolves, like Underworld, but for girls. I only watched one movie out of each of these franchises though.

JBroAC I must say that I don't like the portrayal of Vampires in franchises like Underworld, Twilight, Blade etc. But of course every generation can do with Vampires as they wish. They're not really doing anything else than Stoker, who turned them from savage beasts, living corpses into sophisticated villains.

Yeah the war of Vampires in latex clothing...

That's why it's a Space Opera and not a crime story.

You sound exactly like a "consumerist" for which they produce this "crap".

I don't know why others "hate" them. I was disappointed because they kept building up these bad guys and when they faced them, they were easily defeated (Megatron and the Decepticon-Lucifer-guy).

He wanted world dominion and in this the strict separation of wizards and muggles.

Dan Scott-Worth Stay true to what series? Nothing in the other movies demanded such a thing. Moreover the source material would have given them the opportunity to make designs for the men of Lossarnach and Lebennin.
