Animes always have the tendency to overdo on the power level. At some point it is stupid to give heroes and villains ever more power ups until they throw planets at each other. That doesn't make a good story.

TabalugaDragon "tunnel vision(he can easily orientate himself in darkest caves)" hahaha XD Thanks sir, that just made my day.

More real?! You can clearly see his skipping movements due to the stop motion. The computer animation is so much more elaborate and realistic... Also the most important point is, that computer animated characters can be played by actors, can support proper mimics.

Toothless is more a smart flying cat. There is nothing intimidating about him.

Shenron You have not made it on any list I know of. Moreover I perceived your comment as bitching about how Shenron should have been ranked higher. My comment is a refutation of your argument, that "bigger" means better. Doubtless Goku could "kick the asses" of all of the elaborate characters of critically acclaimed authors.

imwithyoubuddy You understood nothing about what I said. In future you should ask me when you have trouble understanding English, instead of assuming the wildest things.

Jared Lance They love him, because he's basically a conscious cat with wings.

STREET-LIGHT MOVIE GUY"Smaug may move realistically but Peter Jackson only used CGI for him in the 2nd Hobbit. " What else, do you propose, should have been used to bring Smaug on the screen? "The Dragonslayer crew used multiple different effect techniques for their dragon and that's why it felt more real." Actually that makes it less real. They used stop motion and puppets and whatever for a lack of better methods. They could not fully sculpt a dragon as a virtual model back then. You can be sure, that today, they would invest this "quarter of their budget" into the computer animation of the dragon - making it feel even more alive and giving it more freedoms in movement and expression.

August Andrews I do not see how an animatronic would have aided the looks in any way. They're stiff and limit your movements. The close ups were mainly of the head, which should have mimics. I don't think any doll or animatronic beats Cumberbatch's mimics - saying otherwise would be quite an insult to an actor. XD "Instead, he used CGI not just for Smaug but most of the movie and it felt sickeningly lazy after a certain point." It is actually more hard to implement. In characters like Smaug you have to carefully craft every detail and make it fit to the movements. Then the lighting, etc must be precise - all of this is much more elaborate then building a physical model. CGI is only ever easier, when you can copy and paste things - such as an army. In this case the usage of computer animation indeed bears the temptation of making things too similar. I think the soldiers in the third part often looked too much alike, but I have to rewatch to be certain.

Errr no... I don't know what you're even talking about. O_o

Alduin and Shenron are much mightier in their respective franchises than the others.
1
Mason Booth Dunno where you get this from. -_- Why do you think that he's only vulnerable to a Black Arrow?
1
Mason Booth So where does it say that only a Black Arrow can wound him? Things like this often get misunderstood. Similar to Glorfindel's prophecy.
1
shitmen1000 Well here we get to the limits of comparing creatures within different franchises. In Tolkien's word Ancalagon's fire is the hottest.

***** This differentiation between wyverns and dragons is from a time which had a completely different picture of those. Todays dragons are mostly smart and majestic creatures while in the old days they were meant to be ugly and animals in mind.

Shenron "Top 10 dragons in the movies and TV from this video we're commenting on right now. " Yeah and you're an obnoxious Youtube kid. Didn't see you in the video. Did I miss some point at which an obnoxious Youtube kid was mentioned? O_o It would be a very weird choice for a dragon, I should think!

imwithyoubuddy Everyone can read your comment, so please stop embarrassing yourself further. Here are the accounts of your hilarious stupidity: "His comment about bitching around being big, if you compare him to the dragons in the list, he is bigger and much stronger." "You included Goku here for some odd reason. Sorry but he's no dragon." You know what? Don't stop embarrassing yourself. You're not obnoxiously stupid, you're amusingly stupid; and I'm looking forward to what you get wrong next.
1
Shenron You try to hard to play it down. ; D At least you're getting humorous rather than aggressive. Speaks for your character even though you seem unwilling or incapable of thinking about my point. ...which, I thought, was way less edgy or complicated, than it played out here.

imwithyoubuddy You just turned obnoxiously stupid. When your next comment doesn't include an amusing misunderstanding on your part, I will block you.

Kyle Gardner That might well be. I'm not altogether educated on the topic.

Squidoo Morales I understand very well what makes an artist use those insane powers. I'm just warning about their usage and anyways my main point was never about any medium or artistic choice, but to refute the original poster's bogus argument. He, however, does not seem able or willing, to get it.
