  1. Pfft what?! A scholar of religion should have ZERO respect for what he is studying. Imagine any other form of scientist did that. It's bad enough when a layperson has "respect" for a religion.

  4. You should do both. In studying studying religions you must "dismiss" them, ie acknowledge that they are wrong. Otherwise you're just an apologist.
