It's just that you can't get out of your simplistic populist mindset. Drugs are illegal, because a majority of people deeply believes anti-drug propaganda - the media and the public got each other in a frenzy over drugs in the 20th century and now "drugs bad" is the norm. If pharma companies had any significant influence, then mdma, lsd, 6-APB, amphetamin, methamphetamine, synthetic dmt, etc would all be legal. But they're not.

"Big pharma" could have made gigantic amounts of money during the last century selling psychoactive substances. It's the general plublic and the media that got paranoid about drugs being generally bad.
