@Alixevor You are LESS connected with a forest than a city. The "natural" state is a constant barrage of thoughts. Trying not to think is the least natural thing imaginable and also not what most meditation is about. Mindfulness mediation isn't about chasing some magical space away from everyday life, but to experience every day life more intimately, to be fully present not to be maximally absent.

@flipper8256 It doesn't "explain", it asserts. Wrongly. Drowning means dying and it's still used that way. You want to replace every single istance of "they drowned" with "they drowned and died". That's retarded.

Just because some organizations uses the word "drowning" incorrectly, doesn't mean I have to follow along. Drowning has always meant to die by submersion. When I tell someone that someone I knew drowned, I express that they don't exist anymore. The same goes even for the metaphorical use of "drowning". The sound of thunder drowned out the laughter - that doesn't mean that the laughter was right back.
