@thenoltzone498 He doesn't profit from his canonization. The only ones profiting are the Catholic faith and superstition in general.

@999mi999 1.Something not aiding survival doesn't make it irrational. 2.More simple minded organisms also act irrationally, just in less complex ways, which is why you do not interpret them as "esoteric". The more complex you are, the more complex your errors get as well. 3. Intelligent beings tend to rape and abuse others for fun - should we therefore keep doing that? 4. Religions are directly opposed to each other, you have to reject at least all but one.

Doing stuff to be rewarded by a deity is the entire point of religion. If you don't do that, you aren't religious. You are just sprinkling some bs-flavour over your entirely secular actions.

Being ugly is not a "self esteem" issue. It's an issue with your face. To tell an ugly person that they have a self esteem issue is like telling a quadriplegic that it's all in their head.
