I never hear complaints about the fire bombings of Tokio - the fear of the unknown and the perceived superweapon is stronger than the concern for human lives. While the Japanese and Germans laid waste to other countries, their homelands were unscathed. Japan could not win, military installations or not. It was about saving lives, about ending the war and making the Japanese surrender.
