To suppose a continuity of the stories from some time at with a larger eagle exited is incredibly far fetched. And dragons aren't hyper complicated, they don't need an explanation.

There is so much wrong with this, I don't even know where to begin... 1) People do not fear forests, the savanna and the ocean. 2) Humans originated in savannas, so why tf would they be afraid of it. 3) In an ocean or lost in a forest, predation is the least of your concerns. 4) People live in different environments with different threats. Many live in jungles or open fields, etc
