I love hitchhikers. No one asks about them for a long time and often you can kill them right in a forest where they are easy to hide.

@damienroberts9166 Paying attention in school, historical novels, non-fiction on history, the memories of my parents and grandparents, etc For hunter gatherers it was very likely to die a violent death and violence decreased more or less monotonously since then. I think for someone, who asks this question, Pinker's The Better Angels of our Nature is a good place to start. It's a while since I read it and I'm sure it has some inaccuracies, but the main points stand.
