The choices aren't being "sedentary" and running ultra marathons. If you do any kind of cardio intensive sports twice a week, you've probably maxed out the benefits for the health of your cardiovascular system. Also ultrarunners typically don't build a lot of muscles - so if you lift heavy once or twice a week and do some sports you enjoy, you'll probably be healthier than an ultrarunner at 80. The second point I completely agree with.

@dionakgamer7769 Bullshit. In most people that do sports, the mind is literally the last thing that gives in. I see people go way beyond failure and probable injury risk all the time. It's almost possible to spot noobs by how hard they are going all the time. In running it's the joints and muscles that fail long before the runner wants to and that's how people get injures.
