  1. No, it's more like the death of the sun for us. Global warming can, at the very worst, cause a mass extinction. The cooling of the rogue planet however means the certain end of all life on it. Similarly the end of the sun means the certain end of all life on earth.

  2. This doesn't really make sense as you stated it, but there might be different ways in which a civilization could evolve that are more condusive to it's prosperity and expansion.
