  1. It doesn't rely on any god or cosmic agent. You don't practice it in a group. There is no mythos. So although it includes some metaphysics, it is not a religion.

  2. The Stoics had some good ideas, but they didn't have a method to achieve lasting happiness. In mindfulness meditation we now may have one.

  3. They were more right than most of the time, but some of the moral and metaphysical teachings are awefully outdated.
