Downstairs there was no "junk", that's actually one of the most sterile rooms I've ever seen. What there is, is objects tidily arrayed on a table. If the space is not needed, there is no reason to free it up. You're both wasting time and wasting space at the same time. Also cleaning is something completely different. Cleaning is removing stuff that you don't want altogether (mostly dirt). If your computer did what you propose people should do, you'd wait forever switching between different applications.
