  1. More like "don't ingest mystery substances in great quantities". Psychoactive substances are core technologies to human civilization. Saying "don't do drugs" is like saying "don't do electricity" or "don't do metallurgy". Most things that can be extremely helpful can also be extremely dangerous.

  2.  @blackpepe  The opposite is the case. The "drugs bad" nonsense that has you captured is likely the source of his death. How many people "overdosed" on heroin before it became illegal? Pretty much no one. People didn't even take it as an injection. Most "overdoses" are really poisonings with other substances or mislabeled amounts. If opioids were available in pharmacies in the same way as ibuprofen this entire problem wouldn't exist.

  3.  @based_mediumchungus1788  Amen. If it wasn't for the law, no one would be taking fentanyl in the first place. Or inject opioids. Heroin was legal in the past and available at pharmacies and people were perfectly fine with it. And yes, you're right: "overdoses" are often just poisonings due to contamination or false labeling.

So hospitals and doctors withhold them from people at the worst moments. You can ALWAYS refuse to take a substance, but you can't take a substance that's withheld by the staff.

  5.  @nogerboher5266  That's the most random ass distinction between "soft" and "hard" drugs I have ever seen. LSD is pretty much indistinguishable from psilocybin mushrooms except for the duration for example. In general believing in "soft" and "hard" drugs is cringe, but your grouping here is particularly odd.

  6. The belief in "hard" drugs is the result of a century of propaganda against mind altering substances. There is nothing more "hard" about opium, amphetamine and psilocybin than there is to caffeine, alcohol and nicotine. They're all unique substances with unique effects.
