  2. What's the ultimate goal of partnership? Reproduction. What's the immediate goal? A relationship to another person. Neither is fulfilled by a sex robot. I don't see how it's any different from masturbation. I can just imagine an awesome woman in my mind.

  7. It hasn't and it can't. Firstly relationships are fundamentally about two instances of consciousness interacting. Masturbating to porn is great and fun, but it in no way replaces a relationship. Secondly men only reproduce when they get with human women. Men that don't go after women literally cannot exist - or at least just as a biproduct of men, who do. The behavior of your imagined animal must be compatible with it's reproduction.

If she wasn't conscious, that wouldn't be a relationship, it'd just be a more sophisticated masturbation aid/ personal assistance app. I feel grateful that porn exists and my smartphone and google and so on, but I'm not in a relationship with those things, because they aren't conscious.

  14. All of that is complete bullshit. You can already get sexual satisfaction by simply masturbating. But men continue to go after women, because only men, who go after women can exist. Where do men come from? Do they grow on trees? Do they emerge out of the mud fully formed? No, they're always the result of one man and one woman having sex. And that's why sex robots change absolutely nothing about men and women contuing to have sexual relationships.

The relationship between the protagonist and Joi is portrayed as tragic, because Joi doesn't have a body, it's unclear whether she's conscious, she's easily killed and her identity is hard to separate from all of the other instances of the product. Also, they're BOTH robots. Sex and companion robots would be awesome imo, but they wouldn't replace relationships if the robot isn't conscious.

  18. Porn and relationships are in no way at odds with each other. Also as a chick you can pretty much have sex whenever you want anyways, making your grand "decision" pretty easy. Also there's no evolution to get rid of sex partners at all, because you can't get pregnant from watching porn. Porn, sex robots and other masturbation aids do absolutely nothing to keep people from having sex, because people only reproduce by having sex. To get rid of sex you would need an artifical womb/artificial insemination.

  19. There is no "relationship", because a relationship is all about the interaction between two instances of consciousness. I genuinely don't understand what's going on in the minds of people, who think that this in any way replaces relationships. I want to be in a relationship, because I want to affect and be affected by another conscious entity. It is arousing to hear a woman moan, because her actual experienced pleasure is arousing and it's joyful to buy a woman presents, because of her joy in it. Sex robots might be awesome, but they wouldn't be significantly different from any other masturbation aid and in no way equivalent to relationships.

I want the interaction of two instances of consciousness. Sex robots might be awesome, but they would be awesome in the same way porn is, not in the way a relationship is.
