  1. ok, now try answering "who will build the nukes" or "who will build the next-generation weapons" ? There is no commercial market for hypersonic missiles. The greatest engineering project in history was the manhattan project, a taxpayer funded government intervention, an example of socialism and not free market capitalism. If you're going to concede " ok we need a some socialism for a military " then you're already conceding that the purest form of libertarianism - anarchocapitalism , is not viable. So if we're being realistic then the only viable strategy is a mixed economy with some free markets and some government interventions and controls. While we're at it, libertarians like to say "taxation is theft" and believe that all associations, obligations and transactions need to be consented to without force or coercion. But how many of these coercion-less, free associations of people have we seen in history managing to outcompete or fend of states that are happy to use coercion like taxes and unconsented-to obligations like forced conscription for everyone born in their territory ? The history of humanity clearly shows states dominating , showing that they're the most powerful, most effective strategy. So your options are either to be part of a state or be part of some free , coercion-less association and then get crushed by states.

Oh no they needed government funding of one of the biggest projects in history. So yeah while you're waiting for a rag tag group of generals and physicists to convince wall street to start funding their green-field research into hypersonic missiles , china is going to beat you to the punch funding development of next generation weapons and your country going to be unable to compete. I notice how you didn't even try to give an example to show the feasibility of a free market solution to modern military forces and weapons development. Instead you chose the much easier targets of healthcare and roads and education.

  3. Why are you mentioning space X as something that is libertarian and free market capitalist when Space X is funded by the government and so just as socialist as highway maintenance. It's not corporations or civilians buying rocket services, it's all paid by taxpayer grants and contracts from the government just like a road-building company. If you think spacex is libertarian then you must think that the government paying companies to build and maintain roads is also libertarian.

Or any nuclear weapon production. Infact many new technologies are the byproducts of research carried out during war funded by the government. Perhaps you could claim that we woould have gotten there anyway, but they happened earlier because of the government, so while you;'re waiting for the free market to eventually get there, you're being outcompeted by the much stronger and more powerful nation that's using government taxpayer spending.

  5.  @Bitcoin_University  There's never a commercial market for modern next-generation weapons technology until the government has funded the research and science enough that the technology is mature. Until that happens you're vulnerable . Are you just going to wait decades for nuclear weapons manufacturing technology to leak and for venture capital firms to become interested , or are you going to do what the USA, USSR, Britain, France, and every other country has done and use the government to fund the program and get those important next generation weapons as quickly as possible? Every decade you go without these technologies leaves your nation vulnerable to pressure or bullying by a neighbour that used the government to get these next-gen weapons more quickly. Come on man just be reasonable and honest and admit that you need government intervention i.e. socialism for a military. Talk about real life not your hypothetical fantasy like a utopian communist.
