  3.  @Nylon_riot  I don't disagree with most of what you wrote except with the conclusions you draw in the last paragraph. You can't be colourblind towards groups who are not colourblind towards you because that's just letting yourself be taken advantage of and putting yourself at a comparative disadvantage. Why? Because imagine two group living in society competing for jobs and resources : a group of universally colourblind , individualistic people and a group that practices in-group preference . Assuming both groups have the same distribution of talent, the non-colourblind group will over time inevitably outcompete and displace the colourblind group, because in any hiring and promotion committee, the colourblind group will give fair ratings to every candidate, whereas the non-colourblind group will give better-than-fair ratings to their fellow group members . So the colourblind group applicants will only get fair ratings while the non-colourblind group applicants will get fair ratings plus some better-than-fair ratings. So being non-colourblind and having in-group preference is a dominant, effective strategy. the society as a whole might suffer, but the non-colourblind, nepotistic group practicing in-group preference will have a greater slice of the pie than they would otherwise and colourblind people will be worse off than they would otherwise. A group of universally welcoming, colourblind people with no in-group preference are just going to be taken advantage of by non-colourblind people who won't return the same colourblind treatment to them. This is a big part of why homogenous societies are on average higher trust, less unstable, have more charitable giving and have greater community participation
