Asmongold's observations are basically correct until around 15 minutes he claimes that "the pendulum will swing back as violently as as it swung forth" but this is wrong because over the decades it is clear that the way things go is that the liberal-progressives always win over the high time frame. a conservative today is less conservative than a conservative 70 years ago who is less conservative than a conservative 140 years ago etc. Curtis yarvin explained this. the liberal progressives will take 10 steps forward but only take 5 steps back when the "pendulum swings back". They always make permanent gains that conservatives submit to accepting as the new normal.

@c13laser Except if this continues then in 30 years time then the previously "too extreme position" which you oppose will be established as the new consensus the next time the libs go 10 steps forward so if you oppose that too-extreme position then you should oppose the process since it will make that too-extreme position a reality in the future.

@Lemon-yh6xg that's assuming that every event that happens at a later date in time is "progress" which renders the term hollow and basically devoid of content.

@MRST0R the mistakes being backtracked now will be re-established in a decade or two when the progs next take power and at that point it will be considered consensus and conservatives will only be able to push back against the new , even more egregious things that the progs implement.

@趙俊懿-g4o by "best path forward" you mean the next time liberals take power they redo all the excesses that conservatives worked to try and undo last time and then find even worse new excesses at which point the conservatives have to accept the previous excesses as consensus and are only able to push back against the new excesses So if you oppose the excesses then you should oppose the overall ratcheting process which will lead to them becoming permanent in the future .

The ratchet I describe in the first post will lead us further and further down the slippery slope.

@趙俊懿-g4o I think I understood the point of your post. You're claiming that the conservatives pushing back the excesses during their swing of the pendulum will fix the problems of those excesses, but it will only fix that problem for a few years , then when the libs take power again they'll redo the problem that the conservatives tried to undo and go further and add new ones. For example immigration. This time the libs gave an app to illegal immigrants that they could download and automatically be granted temporary legal status and millions of these immigrants were shuttled to red states in particular. As soon as dems get in power again they're going to restart that and even more. Same for the transgender stuff. It's a ratchet.
