  1. In a tank of liquid fuel only around 20% is used to propel the vehicle. The rest is wasted. That is not that case with a battery/electric motor setup. Toyota say they will be selling solid state batteries in five years. These have around three times the energy density as current batteries. Righting off electric planes is foolish. An electric hybrid is clearly feasible.

  2. HIgs-speed rail can replace many air flights. Trains tend to go right into city centres, giving faster door to door journey times.
