  1. Steve made millions hsppy, thinking they knew him giving them a warm feeling 6 days a week. He paid a big personal price for that. His marriage and health. In jobs I have had I refused to work weekends as my personal life was more important.

  2. He was not sacked. He was moved. He had two BBC weekend shows. Look, when he was moved from the breakfast show in favour of Chris Evans, the ratings went up by 600,000. Steve was moved from the breakfast slot back to the afternoon slot. It worked.

  3. In hindsight moving Steve to a few shows a week was the right thing to do. He was pushing 70 needing to get his lifestyle and diet sorted and spend more time with his children. People who dedicate their lives to their jobs invariably end up like Steve. He should have used his new found time to sort himself out.
