  1. phase 1 is from Old Oak Common to the WCML at Lichfield, with a branch to Birmingham. After phase 1 is completed the times from London to Manchester is 1 hr 30 mins. Is that slow! Then as the Liverpool, Glasgow, B'ham and Manchester trains are off the WCML and onto HS2 there is more capacity on the WCML. Why all the whingeing?
