Farina, at their own expense, in 1967 built a brilliant looking car using Austin 1800 front and rear sub frames and running gear. An easy design to get in production quickly as all the mechanicals and suspension were on bolt-on sub frames. They even put BMC on the front at motor shows. BMC said no it is not our thing. The design emerged as the Citroen CX. Look at the poor body engineering that rusted after two or three years. Look at the BMC designs! The Austin Allegro! Austin Maxi, and Austin 1800 - downright ugly even for the time. Then look at the outdated dumps they built the cars in. Ford and GM built new plant in the UK to great success. Then the right wing media blamed the unions. If I worked in one of those dismal dumps I would be on strike, to get better conditions and pay.

Many removed the Yankie V8 fitting the Rover V8 or straight 6 Ford to get better mpg. I considered buying a used Jensen, fitting a Ford 6. I rang them up it seemed like a guy from the shop floor answered. He said, "it will fit, but make sure you get the gearbox, cxn to prop, and engine mountings right, which will most certainly be modified adaptions, using specialists".

@byteme9718 They did remove them for sure. It drank fuel it was so inefficient.

The Triumph Stag was being developed when the organisation had the Rover V8 and Daimler V8 under construction. So, Triumph made their own disastrous V8. Why? They could have used this proven engine. What planet were they on?

I knew a guy who worked for Dunlop in Liverpool. In the 1970s he operated a machine made in the 1930s. He said when they did strike, It was a relief not to be in the dump.
