  2. You are so wrong. National Grid have stated they can cope with demand from EVs - the oil lobby propaganda given out is that they cannot. Just one refinery consumes the equivalent electricity to make petro fuels as the cities of Leicester and Coventry combined. As petro fuel sales diminish the electricity moves directly into EV charging. The UK grid's power stations were based around coal fields which were mainly central in the country with power lines spread out from the central belt. About one third of the UK electricity generation is renewable - 20GW. Now the country is building wind farms on the coasts and grid battery storage at a rapid rate, and the odd large solar farms. This will isolate the country from world oil prices, meaning no more 300% energy price hypes, making it independent. This means power lines are now being built from the coast inland. Thousands of pylons are currently being erected. The existing stations will not be decommissioned until the wind farms are operational. The grid will not be under-served. BTW, it took decades for the UK get 20GW of renewable electricity generation out of a total 62GW. The Chinese built 60GW of renewables in 18 months.
