Comments by "John Burns" (@johnburns4017) on "Why inheritance tax charges are really good for real farmers – but not for financial whizz kids" video.
@ChristopherAtkinson-n3b a politically incompetent Government Amazing. Where have you been for the past 14 years?

Inheritance tax is taxing unearned income. - on those who never earned it.

@jam99 Any evidence of this inefficiency beside the Daily Mail?
7
@jam99 Firstly, only 7.7% of the UK is settled. The place is empty. Precision Fermentation will release amazing levels of land making the country exceptionally empty. The planning laws are archaic shoving most of us into urban areas creating two societies, country and town. That needs to change. We need freedom to build where we want.
6
@jungleboy1 Yes there is. It was primarily to segregate planning so country landowners kept their lucrative acres. It kept the shanty towns out of the countryside which the large landowners did not like as they devalued their land. In the 1930s the UK was full of shanty towns escaping the poverty and filth of city slums and parasite landlords - we called them plotlands, instead of what they were. Essex was full of them. People would carry timbers on their backs for miles thru country lanes to build their own homes - admirable people indeed. The T&C planning act effectively barred people from the countryside. About 9.7 million (about 13.5%) out of a 70 million total live outside the major urban conurbations. Many of these 'country' people live in urban environments in large villages/small towns.

@jam99 Look up Precision Fermentation . Here, now, working. Many farms will go under because of it. Technology moves on. HMG should not be in the business of financially maintaining inefficient, outdated, or unneeded, technologies.
5
Labour also wants to allow houses, wind farms and solar panels on the land We need all three urgently.
5
@mhl8396 He understands the economics of it.
4
The halls of power have acted in introducing inheritance tax.

@physiocrat7143 Have Land Value Tax (payable only by the landowner not the tenant) at a high percentage to eliminate income tax, then IHT is not needed at all. Land Value Tax is all rolled into one tax.
2
@rogertheron How IHT came about. A precursor of Land Value Tax, which never came because of WW1.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4-bz3JbTUFw LVT would eliminate IHT. LVT is the fairest tax there is. Reclaiming commonly created wealth to pay for common services. Privately created wealth stays in private pockets.
2
@batersieiron The only question I asked was: Amazing. Where have you been for the past 14 years? Were you on Mars in that 14 years? After 14 years of incompetence the UK has 16 million in poverty, over 24% of the population. Facts are wonderful things.
2
the destruction of a way of life So you want the rest of us to support a lifestyle by giving farmers financial privileges. Charming.
2
@johntowers1213 The inefficiency of Britain's food production is not the point. It is farmers retaining financial privileges. HMG should not be in the business of maintaining a lifestyle for a section of society at taxpayers expense.
2
@johntowers1213 There are many reasons why food in real terms has dropped in price.
2
@physiocrat7143 His vid on Land Value Tax indicates he was lacking in understanding.
1
@jamesthomas4841 To the recipient it is income, if capitalized. If not capitalized it is a tax on wealth. For example, on the death of father the kids could sell the farm, then share the inheritance (money) out.
1
@physiocrat7143 Exactly, in the current economic regime we have.
1
They are mainly brainwashed by the Tories. Why should Labour keep up financial privileges for them? Answer: they should not
1
only THREE factors of production 1) Land; 2) Labour; 4) Capital
1
@physiocrat7143 Good point. Entrepreneurship is labour. But that is what they teach these days in skewed economics classes.

Precision Fermentation is here, it is working being implemented. Look it up. Look at Tony Seba's channel, the vid on food. Precision Fermentation will release amazing levels of land. It could produce the world's protein on an area of land smaller than Greater London. Land released that can be used for housing, solar & wind farms, and grid battery storage. Also rewilding the land having it open to the public. Precision fermentation uses microorganisms, like yeast or fungi, to produce specific food ingredients like: Proteins that are identical to those found in eggs or dairy. Clara Foods produces egg proteins right now. Fats with the same taste, texture, and nutrition as the real thing. Flavoring agents. Vitamins. Natural pigments. Less need for land consuming animals. No need for all these farms.
1
You obviously want no building on the land. Only 7.7% of the UKs land is settled. The country is empty.

@jamesthomas4841 The higher the income the more the parasite landlords take in rent.
1
@jamesthomas4841 The more people earn, the more the the non-productive parasite, the landlord, raises the rent.
1
@jamesthomas4841 True, but many rent.

That is the farmers own cooperatives which own the processing plants and turn out finished product at a wholesale level What! That is Commie to the brainwashed green wellie country dwellers. When was the last time a country seat voted in a Labour MP? Then they want financial privileges because of their stupidity.
1
If you are wanting to keep a farm for generations, then its land value is meaningless.
1
Precision Fermentation will release 25-33% of land. Farmers are wanting economic privileges.
