  1. In 1939 the British started their A-Bomb project, calling it Tube Alloys. The British MAUD Committee figured out how to make the A-Bomb using U-235 at Birmingham University in England in March 1940. The British Tizzard Mission to the USA in Sept 1940 revealed to the USA their progress on the A-Bomb. The USA never had a dedicated A-Bomb project, wanting to to join the British in their A-Bomb project. So in Dec 1941 they offered to fund and develop it in the US deserts, with uranium coming from Canada. The British and Canadians agree, with the project being renamed Manhattan.
