@shack8110 John Lennon an alcoholic? There is no proof of that.

@curtishatem6739 Having a few drinks every day and being an alcoholic are very different. You also have to understand Liverpool humour and ways. Taking the mick was normal and you expected it back when giving it. In the early days, in the Cavern club, The Beatles and the audience would shout humorous insults at each other. A normal thing to do. Do that in other parts of the world it would cause a riot.

John was 'angry' and combative, anti-establishment all his life up until then. There is nothing wrong with that, it is how you go about it. At Quarry Bank school, one teacher, I think it is on U tube, said he was disruptive to the whole class not wanting him in his class. He was not complimentary of young Lennon at all. Keeping Lennon in check was taking a too much of his time to the detriment of the other children. BTW, my family lived opposite the Lennons in the 1920s. My claim to fame, amongst others. 🙂

What a wonderful interview. I liked that most of it was not nostalgia based being about the current situation.

Nirvana and police? Big surprise.

I can't stand Nivrana. I cannot see the attraction. But that just me.

The Beatles were workaholics. Playing around while working broke the day up.

@notbraindead7298 It looks like he was one those who became drunk very quickly. Alcoholics are consistent drinkers. Many do not binge drink. Binge drinkers tend to be those who do not touch alcohol for a number of days then drink too much all at one time. None of this means he was an alcoholic.

@HaleysTusk "All i said was that he was finally in a place where his outlook was more positive than it had been previously and it seemed he had finally found a peace he didn’t have before." I doubt it was the place, more a state of mind.

@notbraindead7298 John appeared happy in NYC as was an upscaled Liverpool to him. His family came from inner city Liverpool - his mother's from Berkley St and his father's from Copperfield St both in L8. But he was brought up on the edge of the city in suburban Woolton, with a very middle class existence, not far from Woolton Village, with pretty well fields to one side. So much for the poor, working class, rough, upbringing that was the image in the early days of The Beatles. To see any vibrancy they had to get on a bus then travel, further into the city. The first built up centre was around Penny Lane. To get right into the centre was a long ride. Although there was a train station a bit of a walk away at Gateacre into Liverpool Central.

@HaleysTusk I have, but was no sure what you meant.

@Tunz909 It is the level of intake that matters.

@Tunz909 Alcoholism is when you are dependent on it. Having a few beers a day is no such thing.

Of The Beatles entourage, John Lennon and Mal Evan were both shot dead by gunfire in the USA. Two likeable guys who did no harm to anyone. John was warned about going to live in the USA, in that he may be attacked in some way. He was only there because of custody reasons relating to Yoko's child. He said he did intend to return to the UK.
