  1. Jeeps drank fuel at a rapid rate. The Germans had the VW Jeeps which was far better on fuel consumption. But the VW was limited in what it could do. The Germans loved the Universal Carrier (Bren Gun Carrier). A small highly useful tracked vehicle, that was superior to the Jeep. The Germans would put captured carriers to use. Being short of fuel, it was wise for the Germans to stick with motorcycles. They could add sidecars if they wanted. They are much quicker and cheaper to make.
