  1. What saved Packard from closure was Roll Royce, who gave the them the licence to make the Merlin engine during WW2. Otherwise they would have gone earlier.

  2.  @peteloomis8456  Nonsense. Americans are unbelievable! Packard made the Merlin to what Rolls Royce stated and dictated. The paid and called the shots. Rolls insisted parts were interchangable between all Merlins. The only difference was that RR allowed Packard to use American threads. Hence every Packard engine made came with a socet set.
