London and Liverpool will be under two hours by train to London within a year. New Class 807 trains, which will be delivered within a year, will improve the train service. Train times will be brought to around or even below two hours. The extra trains will allow a second hourly service to be added. This is not even using in-cab signals which would make those trains faster again, or even faster trains, as they are clipped to 125mph. High Speed Two after phase 1 is built is claiming one hour and fifty minutes, between London and Liverpool. Less than 10 minutes in it. Have faster trains and in cab signals then the time difference will disappear.

@nick260682 The best city? My oh my! Some parts I would not be seen dead in.

@bubba842 Where do you get this?

@ Manchester is NOT linking up with HS1. Parisians will not visit Manchester. Liverpool? Yes.

@scottpeacock5492 The north tracks on the WCML are dedicated fast tracks - no slow trains on them.

Sunak should have cancelled the lot, using the money to upgrade the WCML and build NPR. What a waste of money.

HMG kept saying that when HS2 phase 1 is completed it will free up 250,000 seats per day on the WCML. So the WCML has 250,000 seats whether there is HS2 or not. So, no capacity problem.

HS2 is not going to Crewe. It is going to Handsacre 18 miles north of Birmingham.

Ignore Euston leaving OOC as the terminus. Then bore the tunnel but bypass Euston linking with HS2.

@deanunio You have no idea of costs.

Going north the WCML has its own dedicated high seed tracks.
