Herman Weideman One thing is clear, Capitalism is a failure. Two world-wide financial crashes in about 80 years with constant boom and busts. Capitalism came from Britain about 200-250 years ago. In history it is quite new.

The free market and private ownership is incorporated in Socialism.

In May 1938 German taxes on wages and salaries were higher than anywhere in North-western Europe. Taxes on capital were higher than everywhere except France for most categories of firm. "[1933] The dynamism of Nazi shopfloor activists (NSBO) had by this time reached proportions that were disturbing even to Ley. So, to restore order, the Reich appointed regional trustees of labour (Treuhaender der Arbeit) to set wages and to moderate conflicts between employers and rebellious Nazi shop stewards." -Wages of Destruction by Prof Adam Tooze. page 40

Donald Mitchell What extreme warped rightist literature do you think TIK should read?

Unfortunately many Americans, through media indoctrination over decades, cannot differentiate between Socialism and Communism. BTW Bernie Sanders was running for the White House on a Socialist ticket. IMO, he would have beaten Trump.

Marx lauded Capitalism, well its good points. A landowner is not a producer for sure but society does not view it that way, through ignorance of the matter. They view land like a Capital object, like a washing machine. Land soaks in a communities wealth (land values). Marx claimed the capital owner is a producer, he admired the positives of Capitalism, in the Communist Manifesto: `It has accomplished wonders far surpassing Egyptian pyramids, Roman aqueducts, and Gothic cathedrals; it has conducted expeditions that put in the shade all former Exoduses of nations and crusades.` But Capitalism left a layer of grinding poverty. Marx emphasised that Capitalists "exploit" Labour. There is `economic rent` to be gained in Labour exploitation, which is clearly seen in monopolistic Capitalism. That is where co-ops come in to eradicate that angle. Marx never had a solution to Capitalism, seeing bad as too bad over the good. His view was to get rid of it. Marx failed to see the importance of land.

Hans Connely If you think the free market is free, unmonopolised and unrigged, please get off that cloud.

Electric You are correct. Capitalism is working as intended. The wealth created by an entire community ends up in the hands of a few percent at the top.

Hans Connely I am on about Capitalism, I never mentioned another ism.
