@jtm198 London now has more EV charging points than gasoline stations.

It takes the same amount of electricity to produce gasoline as to power an EV. Refineries take an enormous amount of electricity. One refinery in the UK consumes the equivalent of the cities of Leicester and Coventry combined having a direct link to the local power station. EVs charge directly from the power station, via the grid, eliminating the intermediate electricity used to produce the gasoline. The head of the British National Grid said that the grid needs no more capacity if all cars went over to be EV soon, as the existing capacity is fine. As gasoline production drops releasing electrical generating capacity, the released capacity is taken up by EV charging. EV's are massively cleaner.

@Bojaxs Two wrongs do not make a right.

@claireelliot6846 No, live in a city. I want no emissions.

Lord Tachanka Nonsense!

Lord Tachanka You must not make things up.

They also pollute, far , far less. Million of lungs in towns and cities will not be exposed to poisons.

Electricity recharges RVs. VW said in a few years EVs will match piston engine cars in price. Then EVs will take over big time.

Lithium is in abundance around the planet. Easy to get. Environmental impact of EV is minimal to piston cars. By maybe you like sucking in poisoned air.

EVs are the answer. Charging times are about 20 minutes with fast chargers to give a range of over 300 miles. And it is getting better. You can charge cheaper at home when you are watching TV or asleep, or at work in the car park, for about half the equiv price of gasoline. The tipping point has been reached with EVs. In a few years mass production will give an EV with a buying price of a piston car. That is when the upward curve becomes exponential. VW's top men say that will be in a few years. They are geared up for mass EV production spending countless billions. They can't make enough EVs with long waiting lists.

@1452364789 You should not comment about topics you have scant knowledge of. *20 minutes*. Most charging time will be less as few people run a tank, or battery down to zero. A 300 plus miles run, you will need a break anyhow, so another 15 minute top up - may not at a super fast charger, but you will be drip charging as you go along as we do with smart phones. Subscribe to Fully Charged, Robert's vids will put you right.

Once they are gone, they are gone. EVs will last 3 times as long. Few parts in them. At 15 years spend a few thousand for a new battery change, with batteries that will give about twice the storage (range), then another 15 years life.

EVs are similar to hybrids, without the poisoning engine with a larger battery bank.
1
Diesel cars will be no more in 10 years.

@Leksuttaja149 The best thing for the environment and our lungs is EVs.
1
@Leksuttaja149 Biogas emits poison. EVs do not.
1
@Leksuttaja149 Everyone buys only used cars. Sure! Duh!
1
Some EVs have ranges in excess of 300 miles. Best you find out before typing.
1
@hypermatrix8999 EV are made to most requirements and with all sector being filled soon. The carbon footprint of EVs , which will last twice as long as gasoline cars, is far , far less.

You have answered your own question, sort of.

Cold Fusion.
