  1. Sunak is going by the Policy Exchange's document. It says keep Phase 1 but ditch Old Oak Common to Euston making Old Oak Common the terminus. Optimizing train design for WCML running (HS2 trains are not optimized), the Manchester to London time will be 1 hour 30 minutes. Is that slow? No! Also, Lord Hendy of Network Rail is planning to upgraded the WCML from Crewe to Warrington/Preston, improving times on this section of track. All looks positive for HS2 fans. Why all the whingeing?
