@dzcav3 The CEO of Rolex said they are not in the watch business, they are in the luxury goods market. If you want an accurate and solid watch you do not buy a Rolex. If you want jewelry then by a Rolex.

Like New Jersey, Liverpool prepared fir the widening of Panama Canal Locks by deepening the approaches to the River Mersey with a new in-river container terminal. This will also serve New Jersey, in that the largest ships afloat can operate between the two ports.

Vivarail have proven TfL made a big expensive mistake.

@darklord1134 Covid-19 might help you there.

@darklord1134 Few ships are sailing.

@darklord1134 Over 60% of containers docked at southern English ports are destined for Northern England. To reduce costs, road transport congestion and emissions, Liverpool has to be used more. Also, Liverpool only has one (unelectrified) rail line into the whole port when 30 years ago it had 9. This has to be put right. But HMG, (the Tories, a southern backed party) will not spend on the north of England.

Once petro fuels become difficult to get, and more expensive, they will disappear quite quickly. In 13 years petrol cars replaced horses, the petrol car will disappear just as quick.

@longdang2681 One of the heads of National Grid on Fully Charged say there is no problem in electricity supply. I believe him.

@longdang2681 A 7.5 kW domestic charger is fine for EVs. You do not charge the battery from zero to full every night. You just top up. It charges while you are asleep and watching TV.

@rotaryenginepete But only 20% of the energy is used in oil fuels.

@jester5ify What won't?

@dzcav3 Most people want a decent highly accurate reliable watch, not expensive antiquated technology for decorative purposes. Those who wear Rolex watches care not a jot about its accuracy. If you want an accurate watch you do not buy an antiquated clockwork one.
1
@dzcav3 There will be different types of EVs.

@dzcav3 You just don't get it.

@chrissmith7837 The West is ahead in efficient motors, best power/ratio. Yasa near Bristol come to mind.

"Its is not the engine [internal combustion] which is the problem, it is the fuel that is the problems" What nonsense! 80% of the fuel in the tank is wasted. It is a highly inefficient engine.

How does it work? I have found no graphic for this engine.

@number1genoa The UK is considering hydrogen trains. The hydrogen will be produced at the depots using electricity produced by wind farms.

The S Stock can be converted to to the new signals.
1
Jack Sugden You have a point. The cost of updating the D Stock is a fraction of the cost of new trains. As the man said, they are effectively now are new trains. The way Vivarail has made some of them battery trains is impressive. A battery 3rd rail version is to be used on the Wrexham to Liverpool line running over the Merseyrail Wirral Line into Liverpool from Bidston. So, LU's loss is others gain.
1
mjosiah1 What do S stock add that renovated D stock do not?
1
Being 38 years old is not a problem as clearly is seen by what Vivarail are doing. I do not go with that the D stock's signalling cannot be upgraded.
