  1. NoahBones 12 Not really. The Land Rover was to get a higher quota of metal when it was rationed just after WW2. Steels mill could nog make enough. Rover made luxury cars so were down the list of allocation. The top guys at Rover were wondering how to keep the company in business. One had an ex army Jeep on his farm. One said make one of these, but better to get the metal. They did and never looked back.

  4. Unreliable? Complete nonsense. This guy should stick to city streets with air-con and silly trinkets. He hasn't a clue. If I was going off road across a desert, only two vehicles would be considered: Land Rover and Land Cruiser. I know what I am talking about as I spent two years going off road in deserts. The only US vehicles I would consider would be of military specification. But they are not available to the public. And they are as basic as a Land Rover, for obvious reasons. I would only prefer a Land Rover with a straight engine, not the V8. Simple Land Rovers can be fixed with a simple tool kit. They will get you there, while a air-conned Chevy will be stuck, unable to get you out.
