@paul123ggggggggg Yes. Irish history is boring. It is one of mass emigration.

@random_guy_on_youtube5342 The Irish didn't have a history worth noting until the England went there.

@TheLoughDuck55 Is that what you call help? Any help for the allies from the Irish was more notional. The British protected Irish shipping by allowing them to be in British convoys. As the vid stated, the British prevented the Germans occupying the place. If an invasion fleet was on its way to Ireland the British would have fought it off. The Germans thought nothing of invading neutral countries. During the U-Boat battle, allowing allies ships to use western Irish ports would have been a great bonus preventing loss of life. None was coming. Some thanks. But DeValera did have a big chip on his shoulder.

@TheLoughDuck55 You making out Ireland did something special to aid the allied cause. The Irish were hoping the Germans would win. When it was obvious they would not win, they pretended to cooperate . The British should have sent Canadians into Ireland to occupy a western base. A few people with chips on their shoulders should not get in the way of the free world.

@TheLoughDuck55 I know exactly what I am writing. I an from a country with principle and guts. The British were the single biggest agents in the defeat of Nazi Germany. They were there from day one until the end. They never entered the war because they attacked another country or were attacked. The so-called "invincible" Germans army tried and failed, with their allies, for two years in WW2 to defeat the British army in North Africa. The finest army in the world from mid 1942 onwards was the British. From Alem el Halfa it moved right up into Denmark, through nine countries, and not once suffered a reverse taking all in its path.

@liam O'Baoigheallain You knowledge of WW2 is scant to say the least, well the Irish did call WW2 The Emergency. The US provided about 10% of UK supplies, mostly raw materials and machine tools - British War Production, Postan 1951. A lot of that was continuation of pre war trade anyhow. No doubt you have not heard of reverse lend lease. Again for you... the British were the biggest agents in defeating Nazi Germany. The British went on principle not because they were attacked or attacked anyone. A pity the Irish never had such guts.
