  1. The doors on the original Mini were not thin. They had sliding windows so the space in the doors could be used as storage. Even under the back seat there was space for storage. Later wind down windows were fitted. Also Issigonis put the people in the car sitting more upright to get four people in. It worked it was like a Tardis. Even today no car has surpassed the space given over to passengers and storage.
