pretty sure russian democracy died in 1613, before russia was even founded... that were the first, and last, elections in muscovy... and as instead of Polish or Ukrainian king, the local muscovites elected a German overlord, since then every ruler in what will be renamed to russia by Peter first would be a dynastic German ultranationalist (Nicholas couldn't speak russian without a thick Bavarian accent and had a swastika on his car), periodically replaced via a coup... like Lenin... who arrived from Germany... the only exclusions were Yeltsin, a russian minority from Asia, and putin, who is not German but agent of STASI, the crappy East German spy agency.
