pretty sure russian democracy died in 1613, before russia was even founded... that were the first, and last, elections in muscovy... and as instead of Polish or Ukrainian king, the local muscovites elected a German overlord, since then every ruler in what will be renamed to russia by Peter first would be a dynastic German ultranationalist (Nicholas couldn't speak russian without a thick Bavarian accent and had a swastika on his car), periodically replaced via a coup... like Lenin... who arrived from Germany... the only exclusions were Yeltsin, a russian minority from Asia, and putin, who is not German but agent of STASI, the crappy East German spy agency.

Potential? When Ukraine declared independence russia was starving. They physically cannot produce food to feed themselves, russians can only steal, pillage and destroy. Without invading everybody around they can't even make their own toilets and washing machines, stealing which (plus other stuff) is the goal of any russian's existence.

Khuilo putin literally starting his term by blowing up moscow and invading Ichkeria, continuing what every single russian leader before did: genocide of every local population they decided to colonize. There was no good russia. Its existence was a mistake, moscow should be razed and land salted like Carthage. Only good russians are in Ukrainian ministry of defense counters.

Well you said your parents supported Yeltsin invading Ichkeria and starting a genocide there, something putin, his butt buddy and heir, continued. All russians are evil. There wasn't a good russian leader, or even a competent one. There was not a time in history since russia was founded in some 1700s when the muscovites didn't invade other countries to rape, pillage, and ethnically cleanse locals, replacing the natives with white russian invaders. All russians abroad should be deported BACK before they start "Berlin people's republic" or worse. We learned it a hard way in Ukraine that letting the russian into your country is an unforgivable crime.
