@botarakutabi1199 Exactly, engineers used strings, ropes, grips, wheels, boards, water, sand, plum stones, and most importantly, all kinds of levers, plus other nifty tricks, to make labor easier... but you still need to get energy somewhere, and without a motor converting fuel (steam, coal, oil, electricity whatever) into motion, you have to use human power.

@stiffrichard2816 4000+ years between pyramids and steam engine. People built everything without power tools from 12000 BC to 1700s, industrial era.

They also absolutely had some degree of conveyor work, in fact Egyptian temples are specifically known for controlling the grain supply and agricultural industry, that's how you make a civilization! And when building they had brigades and work gangs, foremen etc., it wasn't just individual artisans doing things because they liked, they would hire people to do jobs as part of taxation system, labor tax was a thing. Doesn't mean one worker made one item, you would spend your work hours on projects you were assigned on, it wasn't too different from the time 300 years ago right before industrial revolution made factories automate more processes.

@joshridinger3407 Lay people are expected to trust the system because otherwise it would collapse, you don't personally hold exams of every doctor and learn enough medicine to judge them before seeing one for a sprained ankle?! You put faith in the industry. Tell me, do you test the food you buy at the store. or you trust the labels and supply chain to not poison you? All you "skeptics" who "test everything" and "believe in nothing" would die of dehydration in a week if you walked your walk and tested all water for toxic chemicals, instead of blindly believing the town municipality isn't trying to poison you. And town council naturally deserves FAR less trust than bloody nerds who do lowly-paid, ungrateful work with rock... Paranoia is a mental disorder. You're not an edgy rebel or momma's special indigo kid, you're just being schizoid.

Several months and I still can't finish this video, I am two hours in and these guys made a compelling argument on pro-choice and me change my mind on eugenics – people who believe pyramids were built by aliens should get free vasectomies, full stop.

Early psychology is fascinating! Freud and his gang started with controversial takes like the one that hysteria is, in fact, NOT woman's womb (hystera) traveling through her body, but a thing purely in the head... and that a woman is frustrated because her husband doesn't satisfy her, and not because of imbalanced humours (hence the "penis normalis dosim repertatur" prescription). This upset a lot of doctors who until very recently put a guy into a nuthouse for suggesting washing hands between dissecting corpses and taking labor, as it didn't comply with their beliefs in humorism and miasmas. Funny that everyone later made a hobby out of "debunking Freud" including Sigmund himself, but Jung, who did drugs with literal Nazis, is somehow considered a more posh, highbrow psychologist.
